Thomas K. Day, DVM, MS, DACVAA, DAVECC, CVA

Keynote Speaker

Veterinary Specialist-Emergency & Critical Care, Anesthesiology

VCA Veterinary Emergency Services/Veterinary Specialty Center

Dr. Day is a graduate of The Ohio State University (BS-1983, DVM- 1988, MS-1992). He obtained board certification in the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia in 1993 and in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 1998. He served as an anesthesiologist at Mississippi State University from 1992-1997. He founded and owned Louisville Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Services from 1998-2012. He currently serves as a specialist in emergency and critical care and anesthesiologist at VCA Veterinary Emergency Service/Veterinary Specialty Center in the Madison, WI area.

Laura Bates, BS

Client Service Manager

Laura Bates is the Client Service Manager at VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center. Laura's primary responsibilites. She has been working in veterinary medicine for 15 years, seven of which have been in office management positions. Laura began her career in  Laura has special interests in client education and is especially in tune with the pet owner experience. Thus, count on Laura to offer a sincere and compassionate touch to all communications.

Denise A. Bohn, DVM

Emergency Medicine Lead

VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center

Dr. Denise Bohn is the Lead Doctor in Emergency Medicine for VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Hospital. In her role she mentors the emergency doctor team and leads the emergency service. Dr. Bohn is a 1990 graduate from Iowa State University in veterinary medicine. She is a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Iowa Veterinary Medicine Association. Dr. Bohn enjoys fitness, has trained for a triathlon, loves gardening, and plays guitar. 

Dr. Bohn enjoys interacting with the patients, clients and doctors at VCA MidWest Referral & Emergency Center.

Jessica M. Clemans, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM)

Internist

VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center

 

Dr. Clemans earned her DVM from and completed her residency at Iowa State University. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in small animal internal medicine. Dr. Clemans enjoys all aspects of internal medicine, but has a special interest in minimally invasive endoscopic procedures, biliary issues, and infectious diseases. She's eager to partner with the Omaha community to help provide the best possible healthcare for dogs and cats. Prior to joining VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center, Dr. Clemans practiced in Texas and Ohio. She is thrilled to return to the Midwest with her husband (an Iowa native and fellow DVM), two children, and furry family members.

Jarrod Miller, LVT

Emergency Supervisor

VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center

 

Jarrod started working as a Veterinary Assistant at Animal Emergency Clinic in 2013 while attending Vatterott College and pursuing a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He graduated in 2014 with an Associates of Applied Sciences of Veterinary Technology degree, where he then took on the role of an Emergency and ICU Technician.

 

Born and raised in Omaha, animals have been one of his biggest passions since he was a child. He finds Emergency and Critical Care to be both very intense and very rewarding. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the families of the animals he cares for and seeing their happy little tails wag when they get to go home means everything. His ability to confidently connect with clients helps to ensure they are as informed and comfortable as possible in entrusting their animal's care to our team. He enjoys being able to work in a facility with such tremendously skilled doctors and technicians where he can continue to learn to utilize his skills to their full potential.

 

When not taking care of animals, Jarrod is a professional fire performer and spends time running, playing video games, and taking care of his hedgehog, Zelda.

Michelle R. Meyer, DVM, DACVS

Surgeon

VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center

Dr. Meyer earned as both her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Industry and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University. She then completed a rotating internship at the University of Missouri, a surgical internship in Wichita, KS, and residency in small animal surgery in El Paso, TX. Dr. Meyer enjoys all aspects of surgery, but she has special interests in surgical management for CCLR (TPLO), IVDD, wound management, and soft tissue surgeries. She's eager to partner with you to help provide the best possible healthcare for dogs and cats in our community.

Mandy Gryskiewicz, LVT, BS

Surgical Supervisor

VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center
 

Mandy Gryskiewicz has worked as a Licensed Veterinary Technician since 2004 and has been at VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center since 2006. Mandy enjoys all aspects of specialty medicine, with a special interest in surgery, neurology, and anesthesia & analgesia.

In her role as the Surgical Supervisor, Mandy works closely with clients, referring doctors, and pets to ensure the highest levels of pet health care as well as excellent client service. Mandy enjoys seeing the progress that a patient can make after a major procedure as well as the development of her individual team members.

Mandy is the mother of a son and two high energy dogs.

Sharon Schrad, BS, LVT, CPhT

Dispensary Supervisor

VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center

Sharon was born and raised in Columbus, NE. She grew up on an acreage where her family 

cared for every species  imaginable, from pigeons to horses. She holds an Associates of Applied Science in Animal Science and a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. In addition to being a Licensed Veterinary Technician she is also a Certified Pharmacy Technician.

 

Sharon has had an extensive career in veterinary medicine. She has worked in primary care, specialty, emergency and also as a professor in a veterinary technology program.  Currently, Sharon works as the dispensary and laboratory supervisor for VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center. In this role she over sees all aspects of the dispensary and lab including preparation for USP800.

Sharon is married and has two children. Her free time is spent following the Huskers and Blue Jays and spending  time with her extended family.

Molly Tamayo, LVT, BS

Technical & Assistant Hospital Manager

VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center
 

Molly grew up in Omaha, and graduated from Ralston High School. She is a graduate of the Omaha College of Health Careers (now Vatterott College), earning her Veterinary Technician Associates in Applied Science degree in 1998. With this degree, she began working in primary care for three years before beginning her career in veterinary specialty medicine in 2000. Molly earned a Bachelor of Science in Management at Bellevue University 2008. She is currently completing the requirements to become certified as a Veterinary Technical Specialist in Internal Medicine through the Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians.

Molly has been with VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center since the hospital's opening in August 2006. She is the Technician Manager and oversees technicians & assistants in all departments. She really enjoys working with geriatric and oncology patients, and also loves clinical teaching for fellow technicians.

Molly is the proud mother of three children, and enjoys the hustle and bustle that comes with being the parent of three teenagers actively involved in various competitive sports. She has a West Highland White Terrier named Casper.
